Inside Extremity is a method of learning and practicing contemporary dance created in 2015 by Eva Georgitsopoulou. It is applicable and addresses both professional and non-professional students.  Using specific technical instructions, the class focuses primarily on guided improvisation and through continuous movement and speed, leads participants to discover the balance between spontaneous and controlled intense mobility. It also includes a series of repetitive technical exercises that strengthen and coordinate the body, creative exercises for solo and group composition in space, and learning material - choreography that activates complex coordination, speed and clarity. In light of dance as language,Inside Extremity's vision is to develop the body into a source of endless vocabulary and participants into movement storytellers.

The workshop focuses on the theme of moving: leaving one place, inhabiting another, experiencing new energies, changing habits, and redefining social circles. This transition from one space to another opens up a rich subject to explore through movement. We will delve into the states of the body related to travel, change, and the in-between.

How does the body react when it is uprooted? How does it adapt when it discovers new ground, a new orientation, a new rhythm?

The aim will be to inhabit these transitions, to feel how rootedness can coexist with passage, how movement can become a place in itself. A workshop to cross over, feel, let go, start again. A way of setting in motion what changes and finding support in what remains.

The identity of the KANE company will guide this research: an anchored physicality, a deep relationship with the earth, a movement that starts from contact, weight, and stability found even in the midst of movement.

Gestures in an off beat is a workshop that aims to sharpen dancers reflexes and introduce them to the process of organic stage positioning. Through warm up and improvisation exercises, movement patterns will be created, with the aim of creating a narrative with multiple meanings on stage. Sourcing movement from the 'everyday' body, from the use of weight and form, gestures and pedestrian movements will act as our starting point . These 'incomplete movements' will inspire us to create and compose short phrases.

Participants will be encouraged to use material derived from their own personal movement.

*Aimed at professional and student actors/dancers.

CLASH without CRASH is a workshop during which participants are invited to explore partnering skills such as leaning against a body and the ability to counterbalance the weight. They will experience how to support and use the weight of a body in motion, lift partners using minimal effort and make themselves light while being lifted in static and off-balance situations. They will play with different ways of giving and receiving weight in the action of leaning, climbing and jumping onto a partner. Participants will also learn to jump onto each other as well as to catch and absorb the impact of a jumping body without breaking the flow of the movement. Using dynamic partnering sequences, they will manipulate each other in different ways moving in space.

Contemporary Dance & Movement Storytelling, this workshop focuses on exploring our unique movement possibilities. We will practice dynamic phrasing, the connection between movement, emotional texture, and intricate ensemble work. Together, we will create movement where instinct meets form. Through collaboration and attunement, we’ll explore how bodies and energies communicate, transmit, and transform spaces and people. The session invites participants into the evolving dynamics of creative groups — a practical exploration of connection and the organic emergence of a shared physical language.
Through playful discipline, participants with little to more experience are invited to move, dance and create.

Contemporary Dance, this workshop blends fluid movement, grounded physicality, and creative exploration, inviting participants to deepen their connection to their bodies while expanding their expressive range. It focuses on developing clarity, ease, and adaptability in motion through a mix of structured exercises and guided improvisation. Participants will explore how weight, momentum, and intention can shape movement choices and open new creative pathways. The workshop encourages dancers to cultivate presence, sensitivity, and curiosity in their practice. Each session builds toward a fuller understanding of technique, improvisation, and personal expression. Open to movers of all backgrounds.

*Dance Level & Experience:

Depending on the instructor the level of each workshop is different.

For workshops by Fotini Kardakou, Marianna Varviani and Katerina Foti we welcome all movers that are comfortable in using their body to dance in different levels, dynamics and speeds. Our workshops will adjust to your level. A basic relationship with your body and dance is suggested as the materials shared will not be so easy for complete beginners.

For workshops by Eva Georgitsopoulou, Maky Grochain and Bruno Catalano intermediate to advance dancers are encouraged to attend.
